Sunshine & Gorgeous Pastels: A Wedding at Arley House

25/08/2022

Arley House is one of our favourite wedding venues. It is situated in the Worcestershire/Shropshire countryside within the grounds of the Arley Estate. We were blessed with stunning summer sunshine for most of the day and the gorgeous pastels from the couple’s decor enhanced what is already an absolutely beautiful wedding venue.

Arriving at Arley House & Gardens

We are a recommeneded supplier to Arley House, so we know it like the backs of our hands. However, each wedding is so different so we always like to spend some time getting photos of the decor and little touches. In the morning when we arrived it was beautifully decorated with gorgeous pastels – pinks, creams and sage greens – and there were some lovely touches courtesy of venue dresser Feather and Fox.

The Bridal Preparation

I had a fantastic morning with the bride and her bridesmaids while they had their hair and makeup done. Emmie Victoria and Emily Grosvenor were on hand with their amazing hair and makeup skills. These ladies were one of the most fun and bubbly groups of bridesmaids I’ve worked with to date, which is a big statement after 12 years and over 300 weddings!

I love getting to know everyone before the ceremony and we always get some super fun images of everyone having a great time. There’s also plenty of time for the more calm and creative side of the bridal prep too.

The Groom & Groomsmen

The groom and his fab team of groomsmen had a great time in the stag suite. It has a pool table and a bar for the guys to chill out at before the ceremony, which always makes for great photo opportunities!

Of course, we had to grab the groom for a few minutes for some photos of him all suited and booted. I often have grooms tell me that they’re not bothered by having their photo taken whilst getting ready. Once we show them the images they’re always impressed by the results and glad they went for it!

A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony

Arley House and Gardens has a couple of outside spaces to have the wedding ceremony. The bride and groom chose the pergola in the rear gardens. This is one of my favourite outdoor ceremony spaces as it surrounded by colourful flowers and allows me to venture around the whole space.

Even the mini guests got in on the readings!

Just Married!

The confetti throw as the bride and groomw alked back up the aisle was great fun. I love it when the confetti is thrown as the couple exit their ceremony. It’s always full of excitement from both the couple and their guests as they’ve only just been announced a married couple. Look how happy they look!

Drinks Reception in the Gardens

The couple and their guests had a lovely sunny drinks reception in the gardens of Arley House with the stunning castle turret as a backdrop. It’s always a really relaxed vibe here and we maximise this time to get lots of photos of the guests enjoying themselves.

Couple Portraits in the Italian Gardens

The Italian Gardens in the grounds of the arboretum are definitely a selling point of this venue! We had exclusive use of the gardens afterwards to get some amazing photos of the bride and groom. This is usually the perfect time to steal away from the guests for those beautiful couple portraits.

Finally we used a little clever camera trickery to create some dramatic and powerful images in the arboretum. It’s possible to do this even in the height of summer!

The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

The wedding breakfast room looked stunning. The bride and groom entered to lots of cheers before enjoying a three course meal and speeches. We love capturing the guest reactions during the speeches as much as the speakers themselves. It adds beautifully to the storytelling style of the photographs.

First Dance & Evening Fun

We LOVE a full dancefloor and these wedding guests certainly did not disappoint! The bride and groom were surrounded by their favourite people during their first dance. Afterwards everyone piled onto the dancefloor to enjoy the evening. We stayed a little longer to capture some antics and the amazing Apollo Soul entertained the guests with live music all evening.
