Hey there, I'm Kate
The Venue & Decor
This fairytale summer wedding day at Wootton Park was simply stunning. From the clash of cultures, to the lakeside ceremony, to dancing the night away, it was jam packed from start to finish and a joy to photograph.
This union of Iranian and Irish heritage was an amazing combination of traditions, set against the stunning backdrop of Wootton Park in Warwickshire. This lakeside fairytale wedding in July continues to be one of my favourite weddings to date. That’s saying something after photographing over 300 of them!
Bridal Preparation in The Hayloft
The bride prepared for her day in the rustic charm of the hayloft, surrounded by her family. The rooms were filled with people so it was a very full on morning, and we captured so many lovely natural moments.
The Groom’s Space
Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen shared some laughs and some beers in another corner of the venue, bonding over games of pool and helping each other with cufflinks and ties.
The Stunning Bride
The bride emerged in her wedding outfit, complete with an exquisite tiara that accentuated her fairytale princess aura. Her love for the camera meant we got some stunning portraits before she headed out to greet her family.
The bride reveal is always somewhat emotional, but this one was very heartfelt. The bride’s dad and sister were especially emotional and I’ll admit I may have welled up a little too!
A Lakeside Civil Ceremony
The groomsmen and guests waited patiently at the lakeside while the ladies made their way to the ceremony. It was a gorgeous sunny day for them as they exchanged their wedding vows and I captured some great natural moments on camera. It’s great being able to move freely around the whole ceremony space here, so I can get different angles from both the sides and the back.
With a dip and a kiss halfway up the aisle, the bride and groom started their married life together, showered in confetti! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple smile so much!
Ice Cream, Canapes & Cocktails
After the ceremony, it was time for the drinks reception, complete with an ice cream truck offering sweet treats to beat the summer heat.
After a few group photos – we had to stop the bride’s dad from requesting any more much to the amusement of the bride! – I took the couple for a short photo session by the lake. I love this time spent wiht my couples and it’s a great opportunity for them to spend some time alone too once the photos are finished.
Bringing in the Bride’s Culture with an Iranian Blessing
Before the wedding breakfast, a second ceremony took place. This was a special Iranian blessing honoring the bride’s heritage. It was my first time seeing an Iranian ceremony and it was lovely to learn about the culture and traditions. The couple gave each other sweet thigns to eat and exchanged promises.
The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
The day continued with dinner and speeches in the rustic charm of the tractor shed. I love capturing guests’ reactions during the speeches.
Amazing Couple Photos in the Fields
As the evenign approached, I took the bride and groom to the wheat fields, where the golden hues of the setting sun provided the perfect backdrop for intimate portraits.
The Evening Celebrations
Onto the dancefloor we all went for the remainder of the evening. The bride and groom cut their cake and had their first dance, after which the guests enjoyed an evening of traditional Iranian dancing and other expected wedding evening shenanigans!
