Chic and Romantic: A Timeless Wedding at Stanbrook Abbey

30/09/2020

This timeless wedding at Stanbrook Abbey in Worcester really was the epitemy of chic and romantic. The couple booked us for ten hours photography with two photographers.

Introduction

The bride and groom immediately fell in love with Stanbrook Abbey when they visited and instantly knew it was their dream wedding venue. So they, along with all of their family and friends, travelled to the beautiful rolling hills of Malvern in Worcestershire for what turned out to be one of the most beautiful wedding days I have ever been a part of.

The Colours & Details

This wedding had an elegant navy, silver and white colour theme decorated with the most gorgeous roses and hydrangeas. The bride’s AMAZING dress was from Dando London (which I definitely did not plan to steal when she wasn’t looking).

The Bridal Preparation

The bride and her bridesmaids had stayed in Brides Manor, a suite at the far end of Stanbrook Abbey, the night before. This is a fantastic place to get ready for your wedding. It’s so spacious with multiple rooms and there is an amazing staircase and lobby area. I love capturing the bride’s reveal here!

The Groom & Groomsmen

The groom looked very handsome in his grey tuxedo. They got ready in the venue’s Grooms Room which is next to the ceremony hall. Everyone was very relaxed so we got some great natural photographs.

The Ceremony in Callow Great Hall

This is such a stunning ceremony space. The venue was a working abbey until fairly recently, and the pews, architecture and windows are all original. Its truly like nowhere else I’ve ever been. I still kick myself when I arrive at this venue, despite having photographed over 50 weddings there by now!

Just Married!

The bride and groom signed their register against the gorgeous setting of Callow Great Hall. I like to keep things natural here so things don’t look to posed or forced. It’s good to get the witnesses up for photos as well to add to the story.

A Group Photo from The Bell Tower

When thre are a lot of guests, the crazy person in me comes to the surface and I think it’s a great idea to climb to the very top of the bell tower to get a great photo of everyone. The result is amazing and it’s a very intense leg workout!

Couple Portraits in the Corridors

With the gorgeous setting that is Stanbrook Abbey, I was in my element during the couple portraits. The corridors are some of my favourite places at the venue.

The fact the couple had travelled so far for their wedding and their adoration of the venue, they wanted to spend quite a bit of time around the grounds and in the corridors taking some photographs.

My Favourite Photo in St Annes Hall

There are so many places to get creative at Stanbrook you can be spoiled for choice. We managed to get a wonderful collection of bride and groom portraits all over the hotel, including on the stage in St Anne’s minutes before the band were to set up for the evening! I had to work fast for that one, but it was a shot I’d had in mind for a while and one I can happily say I’m very pleased with!

Candid Moments During Reception Drinks

One thing we are well known for is our storytelling style. It isn’t just about the couple on a wedding day. The guests are important too and we love to photograph everyone having a great time. We spent a lot of time outside during reception drinks at this wedding which was great for candid photos.

The Wedding Breakfast

With the stunning silver and blue colour theme decorating the wedding breakfast room, it looked amazing. The couple entered to their guests cheering them in and, after the meal, everyone enjoyed some great speeches.

Couple Portraits at Sunset

Sunsets at Stanbrook Abbey are always some of my favourites to photograph. I know the perfect spot on top of a hill, hidden around the back of the venue, to capture these. We took the couple out shortly before their first dance and get some amazing photos.

Dancing The Night Away

The couple enjoyed their first dance in St Annes Hall surrounded by their guests. Afterwards, everyone piled onto the dancefloor until the end of the evening. Dancefloor photos are always super fun as we love to get in on the action and up close!
